——————-

Every April 1st (no joke), the Quebec government mandates a minimum beer price by law. Here are this year’s changes.

For all beer up to 4% alc.:

Minimum Price: $21.77: Formerly: $21.38: Increase: $0.39;

For all beer from 4.1% alc. up to 4.9% alc.:

Minimum Price: $22.99: Formerly: $22.58: Increase: $0.41;

For all beer 5% alc. and up:

Minimum Price: $23.85: Formerly: $23.43: Increase: $0.42.

I have noticed that some stores are selling all beer “on special” at $23.85, even those at 4% alc., and although they are not advertising these prices as the lowest allowed by law (as they often do), I personally still feel that these practices are deceptive and therefore wrong.
